Screen Acting skills
We teach you what no one else teaches: techniques that really work
We actors love to get in touch with our emotions and with the truth of a scene, and a big part of our training rightfully teaches us to do that.
Unfortunately, that's not enough.
It's time for some tough love: good screen acting is NOT about how you feel; it's about what comes across on the screen and what the editor can do with the footage.
Nobody cares whether you 'really felt it' if you make a continuity mistake that renders your performance impossible to edit.
Every day, thousands of great performances are cut out of a movie because the actors haven't mastered the techniques that make their performance both camera friendly and editor friendly.
Do you know what an L-cut is and how it affects your performance? Have you mastered the difference between acting for a mid-shot and acting for a closeup? Can you use your volume to create a sense of intensity and intimacy with the audience?
Great screen actors master these techniques and use them to give the fantastic performances we enjoy on TV and at the cinema whilst those who don't simply end up on the cutting room floor.
